AVOID DUFFY TV & LAPTOP REPAIR AT ALL COSTS !! Two reviews : Conor D. Dublin 15/1/2014 I would NEVER EVER USE these people again for anything! I sent my laptop in for a DC port repair in September and I was told it was a "2 day job" 5 days later I still didnt have my laptop. Finally(day 6) they finished the work and I went in to retrieve my machine and hopefully never go near them again only to discover they had lost my charger,claiming that I had not given one in when I dropped my machine off, so you can add another day onto this journey of incompetence. The next day(day 7) I returned after they found charger only to now discover that the part they had replaced did not fit my charger! So another day is added. Finally the 8th day I get my laptop back and everything appears to be working for the moment. Fast forward 3 months and big surprise the replacement part is broken. I decided to bring it into a professional this time. He opens up my machine and informs me that the previous work done on my machine had been done completely incorrectly. Duffy's had done the work from the wrong side resulting in faulty work. So now I am facing another new DC port and a new motherboard, close to 300e in cost TL;DR WORTHLESS REPAIR AND WORTHLESS SHOP. NEVER USE THEM! B Z. Dublin 26/10/2012 This is a genuine (and i hope, fair) review ... I run my own small firm so I do not write this likely However, I do wish to save you a repeat of my experience I left my laptop in for repair 2 weeks ago as it had crashed Being local, I spotted that Duffy TV Repair says it repairs computers When i rand to ask about progress 2 days later (as i'd heard nothing despite being originally being told it would only take 24 hrs to repair), i was told the computer's operating system and hard drive needed complete replacement That night, I had cold feet and thought it better I just by a brand new computer as it would come with a built-in camera etc. I was willing to lose my deposit and tried to cancel the work the very next morn but was told over the phone the work was 90% done, so i thought - fair enough ... trust the experts, right? 140 Euro the less in my pocket, 3 days and 2 return visits later, i finally had my laptop back and working...well, sort of. My wireless ability would now only run with a USB connection supplied on a "temporary" basis by the shop who said they would repair this 2 days later - i still haven't received any call so i think i'll need to attach this connection every time i want the internet. In addition to this, the promise of a package of new anti-virus protection for the year and a new operating system upgrade - turned out to be a bit of a red herring. The Anti-virus was simply a free online one (AVG, who i've since been told by a IT geek, is actually very bad), and the "new" operating system is my old Windows Vista trial. So no great leaps into the future there. Also, i was not even offered return of my "old, damaged" hard drive which does raise more than a little suspicion upon reflection. Overall, I wouldn't suggest going to them in hindsight as the owner, who appeared friendly at first, was very uninterested when I went to collect my computer. ZERO after sales service. Take the money and run is all they care about. VERY VERY UNPROFESSIONAL SERVICE.
